These two practical sessions, underpinned by the latest research on implementing mastery teaching & learning, support teachers to develop their own classroom practice towards mastery methodology. 

By the end of the two sessions, teachers will have a deeper understanding of mastery principles and flexible materials to adapt for different age groups across KS1 & 2.

Aims of the course

  • Teachers will have the opportunity to further develop understanding of promoting fluency, reasoning & problem solving.
  • Teachers will be introduced to the ‘Big 5’ mastery ideas and how these apply to teaching mathematics, including using important representations such as the bar model and principles such as variation theory & intelligent practice.

NOTE: Teachers will need to bring equipment; details will be emailed to schools so please check what you need to bring.

Tutor: Alison Hurrell (18 years expertise; NCETM Accredited Trainer, NNS Consultant, LEA Adviser, Specialist Maths Teacher since 2012)

Audience: Primary Teachers, KS1 and KS2

Costs: CAPH members £100+VAT per delegate for both sessions; Non-members £150+VAT per delegate for both sessions.
