In partnership with Michelmores, we are hosting seminars on the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR), which comes into force on 25 May 2018. The sessions will be delivered by Russell Holland, Barrister in Michelmores Education Team.

The GDPR will be the biggest reform of data protection and privacy law in over two decades.  It replaces the existing Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), adding a number of key responsibilities and requirements. Like the DPA, the GDPR will apply to schools and academies.

There are going to be a number of important changes and it is vital that schools and academies prepare now to be ready.

This seminar will provide an overview of the GDPR and will focus on practical points that schools need to be taking now in order to be prepared.

Please try to ensure that someone from your school attends as there are potentially large fines for breaching this legislation.
