Conference on Gender Identity

17th July 2015

Conference on Gender Identity
Friday 17th July 2015

At Cornwall College Camborne site.

Lead speaker is Polly Carmichael from Tavistock Clinic.

This conference is a free whole day event aimed at helping schools understand the issues which occur when a pupil is gender non-conforming, presenting as or identifying as ‘transgender’. Nationally the referrals for young people for issue with gender development have quadrupled in the last 5 years, this is reflected in Cornwall where there are already increasing numbers coming forward for help and support. There will be a range of experts to guide workshops and we are delighted to have Polly Carmichael speaking, the national lead for Gender services to young people.

We will also be re-launching the Cornwall Schools Transgender Guidance revised edition, which is nationally adopted by the Dept for Ed as best practice in supporting ‘trans’ students and pupils.

To ensure you do not miss out on this free opportunity to speak to experts in this field at this whole day conference please email and register your interest to:  steve@intercomtrust.org.uk and joining instructions will be emailed out shortly, or call me for more info on 01209 211360. Places are limited to a maximum of 2 per school, priority is given to school leaders.
