Trisha Hewitt Communications

This workshop will look at how schools can communicate effectively with all your stakeholders – parents, families and carers, the wider community, local press.   Trisha will draw on her previous experience to give practical advice on how to promote positive good news stories about your school, and how to handle negative press.  In particular she will look at:

  • Digital media - how to use film and social media effectively, social media sites, how to deal with the pitfalls of using social media, building your website. 
  • Media relations – recognising good news stories, writing press releases, dealing with media queries, interview training.

Audience: open to any staff from CAPH member schools, or staff from central MAT teams working across a group of schools.

About Trisha Hewitt

Trisha is a multi-award winning communications professional with extensive public policy experience, excellent media contacts and superb writing skills. Trisha has wide experience in working with schools and colleges across Cornwall.  She has provided support to headteachers and governors in managing a wide range of issues involving staff, pupils and parents.

Trisha has extensive experience in dealing with the impact of negative Ofsted reports on the reputation of schools, and in advising on how to handle potentially challenging situations such as abuse allegations or bereavement. Trisha has also worked with schools to help promote their positive achievements in the media and advise on how best to use their social media channels.
