Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Inclusion Conference

Run by Cornwall Council’s Education Service.

This free, interactive, online conference is aimed at primary and secondary school leaders and governors as well as senior staff from Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) settings. Speakers include BBC Springwatch’s Gillian Burke and Justin Olosunde, a senior leader in Further Education and a school governor in Cornwall.

The focus of the conference is on the lived experience of BAME young people, their parents and carers and also those staff of BAME background who work in our schools, colleges and childcare settings.

Workshop activities will centre around your own institutions’ inclusion policies, so please be prepared to have this policy document with you and to discuss it. There will be follow up work aimed at reflecting upon, and increasing, the inclusivity of our schools and settings; there will, therefore, be a follow-up workshop scheduled in the Spring term.

The conference will operate as a ‘flipped learning’ event with registered delegates able to access keynote talks on video and supporting reading material before the date of the conference. On the date a series of workshops will be available for delegates to log in to.

The workshop element of the conference will take place on Tuesday December 15th. Please register your interest at schooleffectiveness@cornwall.gov.uk.
