Curriculum Kernewek

Curriculum Kernewek: a vein of tin running through the curricula of Cornish schools, reflecting distinctive Cornish dimensions that include knowledge, understanding and experiences of:

  • Cornish visual and performing arts
  • Cornwall’s distinct heritage and culture
  • Cornish language and dialect
  • Cornwall’s influence on the world and the impact of the wider world on Cornwall
  • Personal experiences of life in Cornwall.
Curriculum Kernewek, which reflects upon and embraces the Cornish as a national minority, aims to raise aspiration and achievement for young people by using Cornwall’s past to celebrate the present and build aspirations for the future. It will also enable settings across Cornwall to confidently answer key questions around cultural capital and the local context.

In this phase of the project, we want to hear about what you are doing currently that brings Cornwall and your curriculum to life, at all key stages.
