Induction programme for ECTs in Cornwall

We are aware that many schools are already thinking about their recruitment needs for next year and the possibility of employing Early Career Teachers (ECTs) from September 2022.

Following the DfE's roll out of the national Early Career Framework (ECF) in September 2021, OneCornwall established a partnership with Teach First to deliver the Full Induction Programme for ECTs in Cornwall. This two-year statutory programme provides Early Career Teachers with access to structured training and mentoring throughout their induction period. After a successful first year of working alongside Teach First, we will be continuing to offer this high-quality programme to our cohorts.

New ECTs from September 2022

Limited places available for the funded Full Induction Programme

As with last year, the number of ECTs we can register on the Full Induction Programme will be capped, so we do recommend that you contact us as soon as you have recruited a new ECT to ensure that we are able to provide them with a place.

We understand that you will be contacted by the DfE in May with further details on how to enrol your new ECTs for next year. Please do get in touch if you require further information about the induction options and let us know if you wish to register with OneCornwall as the Delivery Partner. You can also find more details about the programmes on our website

Do I need to re-register my existing ECT?

Schools who have already registered an ECT with us and who are moving into Year 2 of the programme, do not need to re-register them.

If you are recruiting an ECT who has already partially completed their induction period when they join you, there will be an option on the DfE Portal to 'transfer' them rather than register them as being 'new'.

Appropriate Body Services

OneCornwall will also continue to deliver Appropriate Body (AB) services for Early Career Teachers.

All ECTs must be registered with an AB. If you employ an Early Career Teacher (ECT) you must ensure that you register them with an Appropriate Body.

It is important to note that:

·         this is completely separate to their ECF programme

·         you can register for AB services with OneCornwall even if you are not completing an ECF programme with us

·         AB fees will differ depending on the type of ECF programme being undertaken (Full, Core or School led Induction programme)

Attached is some information regarding our fees and services as an AB and you can find further details on our website
