In association with School Support Solutions, we are pleased to offer Communicating your Curriculum briefings for school leaders and subject leaders. The CAPH Board is funding these briefings for member schools, so there is no charge for attendance.

The school leader briefing will focus mainly on primary, the subject leader briefing is relevant for primary and secondary subject leads.

School Leader briefings

Communicating Your Curriculum for School Leaders is a 2-hour briefing during which you will explore how you can convey the substance of your school’s curriculum to stakeholders, to ensure there is a shared understanding of the curriculum and its purpose.

We will consider this through the lens of your school ethos and values, considering how to explain the fundamental choices the school has made regarding curriculum content selection and sequencing to ensure that pupils flourish.

Through questions based around teacher subject knowledge, planning and assessment, we shall examine how your school’s curriculum is implemented, so you can contemplate how you can communicate this to others.

A framework containing key questions will be provided for you to record your thoughts and reflections during the session. Once it is completed, the content of the framework can be used on your school website to communicate your curriculum to the wider community.

To gain the most from this session, you will benefit from bringing any information you have already produced regarding your curriculum offer, so you can consider the content during the briefing

Subject Leader briefings

Communicating Your Curriculum for Subject Leaders is a 2-hour briefing during which you will explore how you can explain the substance of your subject’s curriculum to stakeholders and justify the choices made regarding its content and design.

We will discuss the importance of ensuring your subject’s curriculum supports the school’s curriculum intent and demonstrate how you can ascertain this.

An important element of subject leadership is checking that the subject content is organised to progressively develop pupils’ knowledge skills and understanding. We will provide the opportunity for you to discuss and share this with other subject leaders, using appropriate prompts, to enable you to practice communicating your subject curriculum to others.

We will also share a range of questions, including those about monitoring strategies and professional development, which you can then consider in light of your individual setting. These questions will assist you in reflecting upon your subject’s curriculum and may prompt some changes which you can then include on your subject action plans.

To gain the most from this session, you will benefit from bringing any information you have already produced regarding your subject’s curriculum, so you can consider the content during the briefing.
