'Cultural Capital' and diversity in the curriculum
In the first of a series of Inspiring the South West conferences, we delve into what diversity in the curriculum looks like and how we can adress the need to prepare pupils to live and thrive in culturally and ethnically diverse modern Britain. Ofsted added the term 'cultural capital' to the School Inspection Handbook in 2019, but what does that mean?
Bennie Kara speaks, writes and trains on diversity in the curriculum. The former deputy headteacher with over 20 years of experience in education, is the author of 'A Little Guide for Teachers: Diversity in Schools' and 'The Diverse Curriculum'. She has written about diversity for publications such as Schools Week and the Chartered College of Teaching's Education Exchange.
This conference is suitable for anyone working in the education sector who wants to better understand diversity in the curriculum.
