Early Years and childcare in schools and academies

early years childcare provision nursery

A specialist workshop for those running school led provision

Aimed at: Head teachers, bursars, business managers, school governors, teachers.

Hempsall’s would like to invite you to a focused session for schools and academies who are or who might be interested in developing their own school run early years provision.  Cornwall Council is pleased that Hempsall’s are offering schools the chance to find out more about:

  • how schools can deliver early years and childcare
  • the benefits of doing so
  • how to develop a sustainable business model and
  • the options for delivery as an individual school or in collaboration with local Ofsted registered providers.

All the evidence shows that early years provision supports improved outcomes for children; therefore schools have much to benefit from direct delivery, and/or connecting up in meaningful ways with local providers.  This can develop provision that meets the modern and local needs of parents and children.  In Cornwall many schools are seeking to develop early years and childcare on their sites and this workshop will help schools who have already started to deliver early years provision or who seek to offer it in the future.

In the workshop, you will gain an understanding of:

  • national and local changes in how parents are choosing to take up early years education and childcare, within the context of national policy
  • the different models used for delivering early years – including direct delivery, blended provision, and partnerships with Ofsted registered providers
  • considerations for making decisions, taking action, and moving forward, including how to establish the financial viability of your provision
  • resources already available to support your progress.
